The Colours of Nature enters its fourth year being organised by Borneo Highlands Resort (BHR) to show to the public the magnificent nature offerings at Borneo Highlands Resort.


The Colours of Nature is conceptualised to bring flower and nature enthusiasts together, discuss common interests and cultivate the love for nature not only among the people of Sarawak but also everyone who are interested in nature and the environment.


The Colours of Nature 2011 is held in conjunction with National Day and Malaysia Day where it will cover more than 50 acres of land set in the midst of highland greenery and forest preservation against the background of a spectacular natural landscape and scenic Mountain View.


This year, the Colours of Nature 2011 is organised in such a way that it will provide visitors first class service and experience. With the limitation of 16pax a day and prior bookings are required, the visitors will be ensured that they will have the exclusive service and experience to Borneo Highlands Resort.

INTRODUCTION

For the 4th year, Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) & Borneo Highlands Resort (BHR) jointly organise the BHR Padawan Nature Challenge.

The BHR Padawan Nature Challenge 2011 is a cycling and trekking adventure with competition categories for experts, amateurs and those who loves the nature and environment.

The Challenge gives an opportunity for nature lovers and adventurous individuals to be close to Mother Nature and to experience the environmental and adventure tourism aspects of Padawan (Including Borneo Highlands Resort).

OBJECTIVES

• To promote the interest for nature, adventure, sports and healthy lifestyle to the general public.
• To promote Padawan area (including Borneo Highlands Resort) as a place for eco-adventure tourism.
• To promote and encourage collaboration between public and private sector to promote eco-tourism in Sarawak.

Visitors’ Fee

  1. Ticket Sales (Return Transfer from Foothill to the Plateau area)
    • Adult – RM30
    • Children –RM15 (4 years old – 12 years old)
    • 3 years old and below – Free
    • Operation hour: 0700hrs – 1500hrs
    • (Ticket counter closes at 1500hrs – No more entry after 1500hrs)
    • Tickets will be sold at the foothill

  2. Own Transportation from Foothill to Plateau Carpark
    • Free Entry to Drive Up
    • Registration at the foothill is required. First come first serve basis
    • Car limited to the plateau car park area only
    • Maximum of 30 vehicles at any time
    • (No more entry after 1500hrs)


Activities

  1. Highland Tour (From Plateau Carpark to BHR Places of Attraction)
    • Adult – RM20 per pax
    • Children – RM10 per pax (4 years old – 12 years old)
    • 3 years old and below – Free
    • Operation hour: 0730 hrs – 1600 hrs

  2. Treasure Hunt
    • Registration Fee – RM 5 per pax
    • During weekends only (Saturday & Sunday)

  3. Horse/Pony Rides (Guided)
    • Adult – RM10 per pax per round
    • Children – RM5 per pax per round

  4. Bicycle Rental
    • RM20 for the first 2 hours (RM5 for the subsequent hour after the first 2 hours)
    • RM35 until 5pm (whole day – the opening hours)

  5. Chinese Tea Demonstration @ Chinese Tea House
    • Only available on:
      • 28/08/2010 (Saturday) – 29/08/2010 (Sunday)
      • 04/09/2010 (Saturday) – 05/09/2010 (Sunday)

  6. Selling of Flower and Organic Vegetables
    • Selling of Flowers from our very own Nursery and Organic vegetables from our very own organic farm

INTRODUCTION

The Bird Race returns for the 3rd time with more activities and plenty of fun. The Bird Race 2010 is jointly organised by Borneo Highlands Resort (BHR) together with Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) aiming to promote the love and appreciation of nature amongst the community.

What is a Bird Race?

A bird race is a “fun race” where teams of two compete against each other in searching, identifying, and recording as many species of birds within a stipulated time.

OBJECTIVES

- To promote the love and appreciation of nature to the general public, as well as to gather bird-watching enthusiasts from all over.

- To create a synergy between natural environment and human development aside from aiming to promote awareness of nature.

- To develop internationally recognized bird watching event and this will contribute to the state’s tourism sector.

WHY BORNEO HIGHLANDS RESORT?

- Recognised as one of the Important Bird Areas In Malaysia (Mount Penrissen)

- Montane Forest

- Located 1000m above sea level  (There are a group of birds that can only be found in high altitude above 800m)

- The only location around Kuching of this altitude that is easily accessible

- Unique and Exciting place for bird watching and appreciation of nature

CATEGORIES & PARTICIPATION FEES

- Long Race (From Buntal – Kubah – Semenggoh – Borneo Highlands Resort) - RM100 per team of two

- Short Race (at Borneo Highlands Resort) - RM60 per team of two

10KM Cycling (Annah Rais Longhouse to Borneo Highlands Resort Plateau) & 15KM Trekking (within the Resort)

2. Malta Penrissen Summit Trekking Challenge (Open) – RM100 per team of two persons
15KM Trekking (within Borneo Highlands Resort)

3. Batu Panggah Trekking Challenge (Open) – RM100 per team of two persons
10KM Trekking (within Borneo Highlands Resort)

4. Kalimantan View Trekking Challenge (Ladies) – RM100 per team of two persons
10KM Trekking (within Borneo Highlands Resort)\

- All participants will be insured and presented with a Certificate of Participation.

- 50% off for fulltime students team- Verifications required (Student card/Principal verification)

- The event is open to all participants of the age 18 years and above; two persons per team.

- Closing date extended to 30th June 2010 (Wednesday) by 5:00pm.
